According to information published by Hensoldt on May 6, 2024, the German consortium MAWS GbR, composed of ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH, HENSOLDT Sensors GmbH, and Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG, secured a contract for a supplementary study related to the Franco-German Maritime Airborne Warfare System (MAWS) project.
The initiative focuses on advancing maritime reconnaissance, submarine hunting, and maritime target engagement through a network that includes manned and unmanned platforms, alongside ground stations.
The study will explore the development of a ‘Maritime Warfare Cloud’ powered by artificial intelligence to process sensor data and ensure information autonomy and data sovereignty. This cloud will not only store data but also analyze it, making it a central element of the MAWS.
Additionally, the study will provide solution proposals for German naval aviation, considering the Boeing P-8A Poseidon as an interim option. It will further examine how various assets and ground stations can be better networked and processed effectively.
